Naming and Shaming

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 7:15 PM
As a courtesy to other players and the community at large, please do not post armory links for the purpose of bashing someone - no matter how awful you think they are or how horrible your experience was with them. This also goes for naming someone and their server in your post, as well as posting screen shots.

You can talk about your experiences, but for the sake of the community please don't name and shame!

Kitteh halp

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 4:36 PM
I have a couple kitty druid dps questions again.. =)

I've been reading around the usual sites but everything seems out of date... what I'm trying to figure out is with all the armor penetration heavy gear in ICC, whether or not I should keep gemming for it or not. In my current set I have almost 800 armor pen which goes up to almost 1400 when my trink procs. Basically once I start getting t10 and other ICC gear, I'm wondering if it's worth it to continue gemming arm pen or switch back to agility(or maybe even strength ionno! I'm usually running with over 60% crit in raids). Any thoughts from fellow raiding kitties?

My other question is about the new idol.. it confuses me. I haven't read anything regarding it yet but it doesn't seem terribly different from the current one you get from triumph badges.. it seems to be only a 'slight' upgrade. Is it worth getting or should I save my frost badges for other things first?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Okay, so I have an alt resto druid that I love. And my guild has these alt 25 man runs on Saturday. But they already have 2 resto druids and don't want anymore. So I'm thinking of trying to put together a stable 25 man pug for ToC and to try our hand at ICC. It would only be for one day a week so it'd be easier to get more people. I'm not sure how feasible this is, but I was hoping to get some advice from any of you that have done this.

Thanks for any information or advice!

ETA: If anyone is interested on Destromath US, just let me know. In game name is Rissy/Zorania.
I've often read up about the problems of loot rolls - but it seems our 5 man group has uncovered a completely different problem with rolling for loot. That of being too polite... I mean, phrases like "Oh, that would be great - do you mind if I need that?", followed by "No, not at all" and everyone else passing....that's fine. But we also sometimes have the extreme cases of "Oh no, I'm okay, you have it...." , "Oh, I couldn't!", "No, no, mine's already got something better", "Couldn't you use it for your offspec?", "I could, but no, I'm fine, you take it", "Are you really sure?", "Yes, quite certain, go on, please, take it", "Oh, okay, but only if you're all REALLY sure...." etc, etc.

Please tell me it's not just us, and that we're not completely warped?!

Looking for a mod

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 4:17 PM
Hi Ladies ...

I'm trying to find a particular mod I saw on someone's screenshot. (And of course, now can't find that screenshot.) It has 2 vertical half circle bars that have your character in the center. I believe you can customize the circle bars to show hp, mana, etc. Does this ring any bells to anyone? Thanks in advance.

Horde Icecrown guilds?

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 4:05 PM
Hello ladies!

I have a semi-newly rolled Death Cow that's just on the cusp of 70. She's Blood DPS at the moment but has Frost tanking dreams. I'm very new to the server so I know no one and I feel that it's about time I get in with a guild (that won't balk at sending me an invite just because I am sub 80.) I have a mind to raid for what is left of Wrath but I'm not on the "super hardcore" end of things and hopefully the guild might group for other things as well - I like to be able to chitchat with people as I quest around and be social.

Are any of you in or know of a guild that fits those requirements? Please let me know! You could post here or if you're on Icecrown, send Numu a tell. Thank you!

once upon a time, Kael'thas Sunstrider was the Super Speshul Snowflake of Sparkles and Cupcakes. then he got heavily into the arcane powder and mana strudels and went a little crazy. but when his castle in the sky exploded after his nerdrage, he went to be an hero/emo kid with Kil'jaeden, cuz he promised blue mascara.

a ~*~fabulous~*~ Troll thing by the name of Peredhel Raincry heard about Kael'thas and his epic failure of emoing in Magister's Terrace. he was only interested in the fact that on rare occasions, Mr. Glitterypants would drop a beautiful white cockstrider snow chocobo hawkstrider giant chicken to ride around on for epeen flexing and bragging rights. Peredhel, being the Belf enthusiast he is, was bent on nabbing more cocks (lawl) for his collection of ridable birds.

time and time again, though, Kael'thas would cry about My Chemical Romance and screamed about leaving Britney Spears alone but wouldn't give Peredhel the bird he was looking for.

then, one day, a Winter's Veil miracle happened. )

and Peredhel was pleased.

in addition, he also managed to rep whore himself out the rest of the Horde Expedition, earning some rep achievements, as well as the Argent title.

and now, off to grind to Insane.

I was wondering if you can make it runic because I don't really want to waste any champion seals on something that might not be worth it.

A question for the mages:

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 3:52 PM
So I've been leveling up my mage and finally hit 64, the magic level where arcane is supposed to become viable. I've been frost up until this point and, let me tell you, the addition of the permanent water elemental glyph has made questing totally easy-mode. Nonetheless, I'm going to wind up dual-specced arcane at 80 anyway and figured I might as well get a little testing time in on the lower levels.

My main question is regarding Slow vs Magic Attunement. I like the idea of Slow because it's another "oh crap!" button when something is advancing on me but, in theory, things shouldn't be chasing you in dungeons and raids. Most of the builds I've seen have passed over Slow, but according to WoWPopular the most popular raiding build contains it. Does Slow effect bosses? Or would you rather have the increased distance and boost to Amplify Magic?

Some people also seem fond of Magic Absorbtion/Incanter's Absorbtion; do you find yourself getting hit by spells often enough to make those worth it?

Thanks!

Question for you resto druids out there...

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 2:34 PM
So my best wow friend's birthday is coming up this week. He plays a pally tank and a priest healer both geared beyond what I can get made for him/buy that isn't wayyy beyond my "wow" budget. He also has his newish 80 resto druid he lovvvves playing, but hasn't had a chance to gear up pre 3.3. I can't "ask" him what he wants cause he would throw a big hissy fit and procede to tell me I did enough for him by cutting him gems and tanking for him ect ect (even though he does the same things for me) so I'm coming to you all for advice.

I have several sources for the TOC Pattern bracers, I can personally make the cloth ones and a wonderful Boomer gal friend of mine can make the spellpower leather ones. I can't find a definiative answer on which one would be best for a resto druid. Anyone want to enlighten me.

I could gear his priest from here to tomorrow if he didn't have everything under the sun already, and the stuff he wants only comes from drops.

Boo to best friends living too far away to buy a drink and dinner on their birthday :( instead a pandaran monk and bracers will have to suffice hehe.

Thanks in advance. I'm a long time luker and very very infrequent poster but I love reading all of the advice and stuff ya'll post!

Feral tier piece quandry

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 3:03 PM
I am at a crossroads in gearing my feral cat druid. I have 2 pieces of Tier 9, and now I am trying to figure out which set I should go for next. I thought about working towards the 2 piece Tier 10, til I saw the joke of a bonus it was. The 2 piece Tier 8 bonus is super nice, and the gear would still be an upgrade, just not as much. Should I work toward the T10 even though the bonus sucks, or do I get the T8 with the awesome set bonus?

Also a question on expertise, my expertise rating is abysmal. The feral tier pieces have almost no expertise itemization. Should I gem/enchant for expertise, or is that a no no?

Reporting works!

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 10:58 AM
About a month ago, I started mercilessly reporting people who use slurs in chat or have inappropriate guild tags, instead of just /ignoring them. It's made me feel a bit better, but I wasn't sure I was actually accomplishing anything. Until yesterday!

What have I done THIS time?

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 12:55 PM
So I went to hit a macro today and I did something, and I didn't notice it at first so I am not quite certain WHICH macro I hit that brought it up. But what I brought up was a giant count of my FPS sitting right in the middle of my grid. So far, I've just been running five mans, so it hasn't gotten in the way THAT much. It's kinda annoying, though, and I don't know how to get rid of it. Suggestions would be much appreciated.

Question time

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 1:35 PM
So my bf and I were discussing lowering our internet and tv packages since we do spend a whole lot on them - due to a competing company getting the contract his was going for, we need to cut back a little to save some cash.

Right now we're getting...
1 Mbps upload speed
10 Mbps download speed

What we're thinking of getting...
512 Kbps upload speed
10 Mbps download speed

Now with WoW which uses both downloading and uploading, would I really notice the difference if we were to drop to the cheaper package? also if anyone knows, what is the very minimum (upload) required for WoW to function without issues popping up?

Any input from you guys would help LOADS :)

I posted this to wow_ladies, and thought that it might be handy here. If you aren't a member there, I don't believe you can reply to my post, but if you leave a comment here, I will add it to the post. I'm taking tank/DPS/other healer feedback about the place. We're all in this together folks.

Here is the guide.

Warning: Spoilers for the Halls of Reflection events.
